CHARLOTTE — North Carolina law insists that public agencies operate in full view of the public, with open records and open meetings. But a bill pending in the state House would lock away important information about publicly owned hospitals.

(7.25.07) Closed-door water talks
ASHEVILLE — It’s encouraging that City Council and the County Commission seem close on terms of an agreement to settle a years-long dispute over operation of the water system. It’s discouraging that the negotiations have been conducted in private.
